The People of Area 51 Kustoms:
Robert Stewart
Designer / Builder / Owner
Robert Stewart is a multi-facted performer at Area 51 NW, being owner, lead designer and builder, body specialist, prototype engineer and of course, honey handler! Robert has been responsible for many beautiful cars, and is a player in several projects where he was an integral part of the build and design of the vehicles.
Robert is of Scottish decent, being the 3rd son of J.B. & Mary Stewart. The first member of the family to use the name Stewart as a surname was Walter Stewart, 3rd High Steward of Scotland. Mary Queen of Scots adopted the French spelling of Stuart while in France to ensure that the Scots Stewart was pronounced correctly. The name itself originates from the ancient hereditary Scottish title High Steward of Scotland. Robert followed his older brother, James Stewart, as a child and learned about cars from him and his father, J.B. and also from his grandfather. Together they made Robert into who he is today.
Robert is the prototype engineer and designer of the MC14 and the Elena GTR. He's is also the prototype engineer and builder of the Wide Body Eclipse designed by Yoshi Vu.
Robert worked with Vector as team leader of the WX8 project. In preparation for the LA Autoshow, he was responsoble for redoing all of the body work, re-shaping body parts, helping to lay up molds, buff, color sand, and prep all the molds with release and applying gel coats to them, as well as pulling parts. He also cut and remade the doors and door pans, and had a good friend Mark Towle do the work on the rear of the car before he could get there. Thanks Mark!
Recently, Robert Stewart and all of Area 51 Kustoms NW has gone on contract for a TV show produced by DORVIBE Productions (James Henderson and Jared Richardson). More news on this to come. Stay tuned.
